Secure Flight TSA requirements

What is it?

The Secure Flight Passenger Program was developed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)  to protect travelers by requiring them to provide specific information for travel.

What information is required?

The Secure Flight Passenger program requires airlines to collect:

  • Full Name (first, middle (if existent) and last name) this must match your official state or federal issued identification.
  • Birth Date
  • Gender
  • Redress number (where applicable for travelers whose name previously had appeared on the “do not fly” list)

Why does USTravel need that information when you make my reservation?

  • If all of your information is not entered at the time of booking, the airlines will cancel your reservation.

What happens if I go to the airport and my ticket doesn’t match my ID?

  • This information is cross-referenced with your identification at the airport.  If it does not match, you may have to wait in long lines at the ticket counter to correct the information.

What this means for you:

  • Starting Sept. 1st, USTravel agents will be unable to ticket your reservation without the Secure Flight information required by TSA.
  • Please be prepared to provide this information when an agent contacts you.
  • Vacation client: please provide this information to your travel consultant when you book your next trip.
